This month EFS arranged and shipped a Range Rover Sport to Lautoka port in Fiji for a client based there.
The movement involved car transporter delivery to our preferred loading partner, where upon the vehicle was loaded using a loading ramp into a 20′ ocean container, then “chocked” and positioned in place using lashing straps. The container then sealed and the driver departed for Thamesport.
Lastly, original bills of lading and the car key were sent by courier to the Fiji client.
The shipping transit time via Singapore to Fiji is approximately 49 days.
For this type of movement it is the exporter’s/seller’s responsibility to discharge a second hand vehicle with the DVLA in a timely fashion.
Typically shipping lines will only accept bookings form vehicles on the production of both the V5 as well as a dangerous goods note for ocean freight (car’s are deemed class 9 misscellaneous hazard and thus require less than a quarter of a tank of fuel upon loading). EFS provided the dangerous goods note.
